Genoa United Methodist Church (GUMC) is a growing congregation now worshipping over 40 members per Sunday. GUMC leans toward being a theologically moderate congregation. Our pastor, Rev. Howard Bruce, is leading the congregation in opening their minds to wider interpretations and broadening our social outreach.

The goals and missions of GUMC are to make both the spirit of God available to those who have had no experience of church and to make room for a vital and dynamic experience of God for those in the church.

GUMC roots are deep in the community. GUMC was organized by fourteen Methodists in 1894 with Rev. Murray, pastor. In 1898, members cut two trees to bulid the first sanctuary. Twice damaged by storms, a second sanctuary was built by volunteers in 1937-38. Our third and present sanctuary was built in 1957. In 1962, eighteen classes and a parsonage were built.
